Why Google’s AI search recommended mixing glue into pizza

When Google’s AI Overviews launched, one of its most infamous answers told people to add glue to their pizza sauce “to give it more tackiness.” The Washington Post traced the suggestion back to its origin: an eleven-year-old Reddit comment posted as an obvious joke. The AI couldn’t tell the difference between a gag and genuine advice — because nothing on Reddit is labeled, vetted, or guaranteed to be true.

That’s the quiet risk in treating a forum thread as an answer. The top comment might be an expert, or it might be sarcasm, a guess, or marketing — and when you’re trying to fix an appliance, following the wrong “tip” can cost you a part, a warranty, or worse. OwnWise is built on the opposite foundation: instead of whatever floated to the top of a thread, it grounds its diagnosis in manufacturer data, error codes, and real repair knowledge, and it flags safety hazards rather than burying them in a comment section.

The crowd is a fine place to start a conversation; it’s a risky place to take instructions. OwnWise gives you answers you can actually trust.
