A ConsumerAffairs survey of 1,000 drivers found that 78% don’t always trust their mechanic, only 17% feel they’re always charged fairly, and around 80% believe they’ve been overcharged at some point. Tellingly, about 83% said they double-check a mechanic’s recommendation with someone they know.
