Vornado recalls 255,000 tower heaters after 8 fires — the remedy is a full refund

On June 4, 2026, Vornado Air recalled about 255,000 of its SRTH small-room tower heaters in the United States. If you own one, stop using it now.

The defect is mechanical: the fan blade can detach from the motor shaft, so the fan slows or stops while the heater keeps producing heat. That heat builds up, melts the enclosure and internal parts, and — if the thermal cut-off does not trip in time — can ignite. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission logged 32 reports of overheating, including 8 fires and one report of smoke inhalation.
